As an Assistant Instructional Designer I worked with faculty in redesigning online courses and with an amazingly talented instructional design team in designing online courses for university deployment at Utah Valley University.
As an instructional design team we created an instructional design course to help others on campus better understand our processes and have a documented, streamlined process to designing courses. Here are some testimonials from colleagues: "Whitney has been an invaluable part of our instructional design team. She is talented in so many ways – She has an intuitive eye for designing courses, is a sharp editor, knows how to effectively manage complex projects, and can pick up just about any software program at lightning speed. Everyone in the office knows they can rely on Whitney. Her competence and friendly disposition make her an absolute pleasure to work with." "Whitney is great asset to the office, as well as a multi-talented individual. She is a hard worker and is able to complete anything asked of her in a timely and elegant manner. She is an innovative and independent thinker. She is able to accomplish what is asked of her, whether that be editing a video, editing web pages, aligning course materials to course outcomes or working with a faculty member. Whitney would be an excellent addition to any office." "Because of Whitney's technical acumen, educational training and media development experience, I called on her to do a great deal of course redesign, video editing, and technical trouble shooting. Whitney's natural talent as an instructional designer stems from her experience as an educator which she has been able to translate into an intuitive sense of what will work in online designs and what students will be able to understand. She is hardworking, responsible and quick-minded, making her an asset to any organization that requires someone to come up to speed quickly and to manage multiple projects. Whitney is well liked by her colleagues and has demonstrated on several occasions that she is willing to do more than is required. I always knew I could count on her to complete what she started and manage her own projects and faculty relationships successfully. She has a positive attitude, demonstrates a willingness to contribute and even when she had to evaluate difficult and negative situations, she has done so with circumspect and tact. I believe she has the potential to be an extraordinary educator, a creative instructional designer, and an invaluable team member." As a Program Assistant in Institutional Effectiveness and Planning I co-created an Institutional Planning Course to empower operations and academics to create four year strategic plans, as well as determine what goals and action steps needed to be taken to fulfill those plans.
As the first Canvas Administrator for Landmark High School, I implemented the first steps of adopting the Learning Management System called Canvas. I made proposals and presentations to principals, presented and tutored teachers on use, did all of the data rewriting and uploading for the school, and created a course for teachers to use after I left. I also created a mix of hybrid/in person Canvas courses in U.S. History, Business Communications, and Life Skills. At Sublime Media, I created job aids and worked with Storyline to create on-boarding courses for Microsoft's Windows Phone. I worked extensively with story-boarding, content evaluation, and consulting with the client. |
